Pakistan women’s football team lost to Hong Kong in the second match of the AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifier in Tajikistan.
In the absence of the injured Maria Khan, vice-captain Malika Noor assumed the captaincy duties, and the national team’s side put on a brilliant first-half performance.
The opposition missed an unchallenged penalty in the 33rd minute that went over the keeper while goalkeeper Nisha Ashraf was outstanding as she saved a rare Hong Kong goal attempt in the 35th minute. The first half of the match was scoreless.
In the second half of the game, Hong Kong showed its dominance in the final moments of the match. In the 73rd minute, goalkeeper Nisha unfortunately converted Hong Kong captain Chan Wing Zee’s long shot into his own goal.
The defensive side once again put in a relatively good display but Sarah Khan tried to steer the ball off the bar but failed, giving Hong Kong a goal in the 90th minute.
Pakistan’s journey in AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifier 2024 ends with second straight defeat. The Pakistani team will face the hosts Tajikistan on April 11.
