Approval was given to release 25 thousand metric tons of wheat to avoid wheat crisis in Ramadan.
In the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting presided over by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, the release of wheat to Gilgit-Baltistan was approved. The said quota will be released in March and April to protect against shortage of wheat in Ramadan.

ECC has approved a technical grant of 2.9 billion rupees for wheat supply to GB and has also called for a reasonable price plan for wheat within a month.

In the meeting, a technical grant of 27 billion rupees was also approved for Kuwait Petroleum Company. This step was taken to cover the losses incurred by the PSO due to exchange rate fluctuations. The money will be used by PSO for uninterrupted procurement of oil from Kuwait.
