The International Criminal Court has issued a war crimes arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of personal responsibility for the kidnapping of children from Ukraine.
According to the news agency, the court said in a statement that the Russian president is allegedly responsible for the war crime of illegal deportation of children and their illegal transfer from the occupied territories of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.
The court also issued an arrest warrant for Maria Alekseevna Lova Belova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Office of the President of the Russian Federation.

The move by the International Court of Justice was quickly rejected by Moscow, while Ukraine hailed it as a significant development, but its practical impact may be limited as the trial of the case at the ICC continues. The chances are negligible.
On the other hand, US President Joe Biden has justified the International Criminal Court’s issuance of an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin for the war crime of deporting Ukrainian children.
