Sindh government’s ban on carrying weapons has become a headache for security guard companies, South Zone Police has registered 30 cases against security guards carrying weapons.
On which Pakistan Security Agencies Association (APSA) threatened to withdraw security from important persons, the association informed the Inspector General (IG) Sindh by writing a letter about the concerns.
In the letter written to IG Sindh, it was said that the police are arresting private guards by ignoring the notification.
Private security companies provide guards to foreigners and others, including diplomats, the letter said.
In the letter written by Epsa, it was said that if arrests are to be made against the notification, let them know so that the companies can be informed. In this regard, DIG South Irfan Baloch said that more than 30 cases have been registered in Karachi South Zone in the past few days.
Irfan Baloch says that according to the notification, police and law enforcement agencies are exempted from the ban, body guards of licensed security companies can carry weapons.
He said that in the context of the Ipsa letter, the police has changed its strategy.
