Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, former President Asif Zardari and PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman have held important consultations regarding the judiciary.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and JUIF chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman are in communication, 3 government officials have consulted to ensure the supremacy of Parliament.
Sources said that the three leaders consulted on issues related to the appointment of judges to the Supreme Judiciary and amendments to the constitution and laws related to the Judicial Council, and it was agreed that the appointment of judges to the Supreme Judiciary would be made through the Parliamentary Judges Committee.
The leaders also considered proposals to table the Supreme Judicial Council report in Parliament and take forward Farooq Naik’s proposals to empower the Parliamentary Committee by recommending that the Parliamentary Committee on Appointment of Judges be abolished as a post office. Agreed on.
Amendments to the contempt of court law were also discussed among the three leaders, and legal and constitutional experts of the ruling coalition have been instructed to prepare a separate draft law regarding judicial reforms.
