The Council of Islamic Ideology declared several provisions of the Transgender Act, 2018 to be against Islam and the Sunnah and declared the provisions related to self-identification as illegal.

Chairman Council Qibla Ayaz said that transgenders reject the concept of Guru.

Addressing a press conference at the end of the two-day meeting of the Islamic Ideological Council, Chairman Dr. Qibla Ayaz said that transgender protection rights have been reviewed, several of its provisions and clauses are not compatible with Sharia.

Qibla Ayaz said that self-imposed identity is illegitimate, the concept of guru is also exploitation and a form of modern “slavery”, it is a violation of human rights.

Qibla Ayaz said that it is the responsibility of the government to bring transgenders back to life by creating institutions.

The Council of Islamic Ideology also passed the attached detailed resolution on March 15 as the Anti-Islamophobia Day.
