Did you know that even pet dogs dream while sleeping? But the answer to what dreams are may have been found by a psychologist from Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Deirdre Barrett, a clinical and developmental psychologist at Harvard Medical School, has published a study that sheds light on what dogs dream about. Dogs, like humans, are likely to dream about their everyday experiences, he said.
He said that humans dream about the same things that they have experienced throughout the day. And there is no reason to think that animals differ from humans in this respect. Since dogs are usually very close to their owners, it is possible that your dog is dreaming about your face, your smell, and playing with or teasing you.
However, psychologists said that although it cannot be said for sure what a dog is dreaming about, it can be predicted by a few signs, such as if they are dreaming of running, their paws or legs will begin to twist or Then they will start barking in their sleep if they are talking to another dog or human.
But when it comes to nightmares, just like humans, dogs can have nightmares. The American Kennel Club (a pet awareness organization) advises owners not to wake sleeping dogs because if they were having nightmares, the effect could cause them to attack you.
You may find it more beneficial to wake the dog up to comfort it, but there are risks involved. Because this condition also happens to some people that when they wake up from a terrible dream, they take a few hours to understand where and with whom they are.
