In the Indian state of Odisha, the groom and his family members had to walk through the night to see off the bride only because drivers went on strike across the state.
According to Indian media reports, the incident took place in Odisha’s Raigad district, where the groom and his family had to walk 28 kilometers to pick up the bride.
Due to the drivers’ strike, the groom and his family could not arrange a vehicle for the wedding. They left Sanakhandi village on Thursday night and reached Dibalapara village in the morning where the marriage ceremony took place.
One of the groom’s family members said that no transport was available due to the drivers’ strike. We walked through the night and reached the village. We had no other choice.
The wedding took place on Friday morning, but the groom and his family had to stay at the bride’s house due to the strike by the drivers association.
It may be noted that the drivers have started an indefinite strike across the state from Wednesday as a result of social welfare measures like insurance, pension, formation of welfare board and other demands made to the government.
