Pune: Indian fruit sellers have started selling expensive mangoes on installments like mobile phones.
Among these mangoes, Alphonso is very popular, the crop is ready in March, but today its price is three times higher than last year. This is why eating a mango now can be repaid later.
While people can buy electrical appliances on installments, special mangoes can also be sold on installments, said Gurukarpa Anjuman for Fruit Vendors head Guru Sinas.
Alphonso mangoes from Deogarh and Ratnagiri in India are famous all over the world for their excellent taste. At retail it is being sold at INR 800 to INR 1300 per kg and is now triple the price. Now buyers can buy mangoes by credit card and pay the amount in three or six installments. But these schemes are only for those who buy mangoes worth Rs.5000. However, there is a facility that four people can buy mangoes worth Rs 5000 together.
