Significant progress has been made on the issue of resumption of national airline (PIA) flights to Europe.
According to sources, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) will start an online safety audit of PIA from March 7.
During the online safety audit, IASA officials will ask PIA officials questions related to flight safety. Audit preparations have been completed by PIA administration.
The national airline authorities will brief the PIA flight safety, engineering, flight operations and security authorities, regulatory affairs and also the IASA team members on the measures.
According to the sources, after the success in the online audit, the IASA team will come to Pakistan and conduct an on-site audit of the preparations of PIA. The ban on PIA’s flight operations to European countries is likely to be lifted after the success of the on-site audit.
PIA pilots started leaving their jobs
Earlier, CEOPIA Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat has claimed to resume air operations in UK and Europe this year.
It should be noted that PIA has been banned from direct air operations of European countries since July 2020 due to which PIA has lost billions of rupees.
