A driver rammed a truck into pedestrians in the Canadian city of Quebec, killing two people and injuring nine others.
According to the news agency AFP, the local police say that the 38-year-old truck driver has been arrested and is being investigated.
Police say that the ages of the people who died in the accident were between 60 and 70. The condition of two people admitted to the hospital is critical.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has expressed his condolences to the families of those killed and injured in the accident.
Eyewitnesses said that the truck first hit several pedestrians on the footpath outside the popular microbrewery and then went about 500 meters away, crushing other people as well.
According to local media reports, children are also among the injured, but this has not been confirmed by the police.
In June 2021, a Pakistani-origin family in Ontario was run over by a car while they were out for a walk. Four members of the family lost their lives in the accident.
In 2018, a Canadian citizen drove a car into pedestrians in Toronto, killing 11 people and injuring 16.
