Lucknow: An injured stork in India has refused to leave its benefactor who bandaged it after recovering.
Muhammad Arif runs a harvester in a village called Mandaka. In February 2022, he found an injured stork (crane) in the fields, which he picked up and brought home and gave it a place to live after the leg was bandaged.
But despite his full recovery, the stork named ‘Bacha’ refused to leave Muhammad Arif because every time he came home, the stork came running to him and hugged Arif. Both even eat together. After that he has also started going to the fields. However, the bird stays away from Arif’s other family members.
Arif’s wife Mehralansa said that when I feed the bird in the absence of my husband, he did not pay attention many times and even attacked me. Even children don’t go to him now.
According to wildlife experts, the brown stork (crane) is not a pet and is happy in its natural environment. It gets angry when humans approach. He has advised that no one except Muhammad Arif should touch him or go near him.
Other storks arrived in winter and returned to their homes in summer, but the baby is still with Arif. It runs alongside its owner’s motorcycle and flies off when it can’t keep up.
