In the Lahore High Court, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has challenged the notification of giving full powers of appointment and transfer to the caretaker government.

The application was filed in the court by Fawad Chaudhry on behalf of Tehreek-e-Insaf, in which the Federal Government, Election Commission, Punjab Government and others have been made parties.

In the petition, it has been submitted that through a single notification, the Election Commission has given full authority to appoint and transfer, the action of the Election Commission is a violation of the Election Act and court decisions.

He further said that it is a constitutional and legal requirement to have legal justification for appointments and transfers. Full powers were given to the caretaker government for political interests.

In the petition, it was requested that the court should declare the notification of appointment and transfer as null and void.
