Lt Gen Retd Nazir Ahmed has been appointed as the Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Lieutenant General (retd) Nazir Ahmed has been appointed as Chairman NAB, Ministry of Law has sent the summary of Nazir Ahmed’s appointment to the cabinet. The Prime Minister has chosen the name of Lt. Gen. Nazir Ahmad Retd after consulting the opposition leader.
The notification of the appointment of Lieutenant General (R) Nazir Ahmad as Chairman NAB has also been issued.
Sources say that the Federal Cabinet approved the appointment of Chairman NAB through the circulation of the summary, the appointment of Lieutenant General (R) Nazir Ahmed as Chairman will be for 3 years.
The post of Chairman NAB was vacant due to the resignation of former Chairman NAB Aftab Sultan. According to the sources, there were reservations about not allowing Aftab Sultan to work independently, so he resigned.
On February 21, former chairman NAB Aftab Sultan resigned due to personal reasons. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had also accepted the resignation of Chairman NAB.
The Ministry of Law has issued a notification accepting the resignation of Aftab Sultan. In which the resignation of Aftab Sultan was accepted from February 15.
Talking to the media after resigning, former Chairman NAB Aftab Sultan said that I was told about some things which I did not accept. I could not continue with the conditions so decided to resign.
