Babar Azam, the captain of the national cricket team and the famous batsman, was awarded with the fan award for his outstanding performance for Pakistan.
Babar Azam was awarded the Star of Distinction in a ceremony held on the occasion of Pakistan Day at Governor House Lahore. Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman presented the medal of Star of Distinction to Babar Azam.
The government of Pakistan had announced on August 14 last year that Babar Azam would be awarded the star distinction.
28-year-old Babria has become the youngest Pakistani player to receive the award, before him former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed Satara was the youngest Pakistani cricketer to receive the honour.
Earlier, the former captains of the Pakistan cricket team, Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan and Shahid Afridi, Javed Miandad and Anzamam-ul-Haq have also received the Stara Imtiaz.
