Last night, the earthquake that occurred in various cities of the country, including the federal capital, Islamabad, was of a severe nature in Pakistan this year, which caused fear and panic among the people.
In the beginning of the year 2023, light tremors were felt in different areas of Punjab in which there was no loss of life.
A local person of Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said, “I have not seen such a severe earthquake in the 36 years of my life.”
9 people were killed and more than 100 injured in various accidents due to the 6.8 magnitude earthquake that occurred last night, while severe tremors were felt in many cities and districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A local person of Swat told the news today that the tremors of the earthquake were small in the beginning but gradually became very strong due to which the nearby houses shook, while women, children, old people all screamed for their lives. To save, they came out of the houses and started moving towards the open field.
He said that I am 36 years old, but I have never seen such a severe earthquake before today. These earthquake shocks lasted for one to two minutes.
A citizen of Peshawar said, “In the beginning, when the earthquake happened, I felt it pass, but after 10, 12 seconds it became very strong. When I went out, the earthquake was very strong. I have not experienced such a strong earthquake in my life.” Look, I was very scared.”
Another citizen said, “We have a small shop in which everything was shaking. When we came out in fear, the poles and wires were also shaking. We thought that they might fall on us. were studying.”
Talking to the news today, a local person said, “Most of the people in Peshawar go to sleep by ten o’clock. When the earthquake hit, we took the children out immediately, all the children were crying, we were all begging for forgiveness.” “
While a citizen said, “I have five daughters, seven sons and two wives, they were all sleeping. When the earthquake hit, I ran away. I thought to save my life, I will wake them up from where I will pick them up.”
Another local person said, “I was praying in the mosque, when the earthquake hit, I was obviously scared, but when I turned my salam and came out, there were many people coming out. I immediately called to contact the family, but There were no signals.”
On the other hand, the administration says that five people, including a 13-year-old girl, have died in Malakand division so far. Among the dead, two belonged to Swat, one to Lower Dir and two to Upper Dirse.
263 people were injured in the entire division due to the earthquake.
According to the hospital sources, 193 injured were brought to Saidu Sharif Hospital, in which 93 Farad were injured while others fainted due to fear, 18 patients are still under treatment while others have been sent home.
According to the administration, around 20 houses were damaged by the earthquake.
In this regard, Commissioner Malakand Shahidullah Khan says that the situation in Swat is under control and the damage is being assessed, emergency is in effect in all hospitals but no patient is coming now.
He said that the situation in the hilly areas will be clear by evening today.
