Efforts are on to end the energy crisis in the country. Work on the gas and oil project in North Waziristan is going on rapidly while the discovery of new reserves is also going on.
The gas reserves found in North Waziristan are one trillion cubic feet, said to be 15% of the total gas production in the country.
From these oil and gas deposits, around one and a half billion dollars of foreign exchange will be saved annually, the delivery of oil from West Block has also started, the journey towards employment and prosperity has started in the area.
Oil and gas exploration in North Waziristan was initiated in 2016, after drilling by MPCL in 2021 at Shewa, large natural gas reserves were discovered in May 2022, yielding 25 million cubic feet of gas. 200 million cubic feet of gas per day will be obtained from other wells.
The project will help tackle energy challenges, while providing employment to local people, social development projects of the area are also underway.
