Saudi officials have arrived in Iran to open an embassy in Tehran and a consulate in Mashhad.
According to international media, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday that after the agreement reached between Saudi Arabia and Iran with the cooperation of China, both countries are reopening their embassies.
Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to reopen their diplomatic missions in March this year, ending diplomatic differences. Chinese President Xi Jinping played an important role in reaching an agreement to restore relations between the two countries.
According to Saudi Arabia’s official news agency, the visit by Saudi officials on Saturday is part of the implementation of the trilateral agreement, which was agreed upon by Saudi Arabia and Iran, hosted by China.
According to a joint statement, ‘Both sides emphasized the importance of implementing the Beijing Agreement, which would expand areas of mutual trust and cooperation and contribute to the security, stability and prosperity of the region.
When Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdullah met in Beijing on Thursday, they expressed their determination to bring security and stability to the Gulf region.
