Bangladesh cricket team’s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan won the International (ICC) Player of the Month award for March.
Shakib Al Hasan defeated stiff competition from New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and United Arab Emirates’ Asif Khan to win the award.
Shakib was one of the bright spots for Bangladesh during the three-match ODI series against England, becoming both the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker for the Tigers.
In Bangladesh’s only series win, Shakib scored a 71-ball 75 and followed that up with a four in the hosts’ 50-run win to win the Player of the Match award.
The same form carried over to the T20 series where Bangladesh produced a historic 3-0 whitewash of the T20 world champions.
Shakib took wickets in all three T20s for his team in the opening match, playing an unbeaten innings of 34 runs off 24 balls.
Shakib was at the top of his game when Ireland toured, scoring 93 in the first ODI, followed by the 36-year-old’s 24-ball 38 not out in the second T20I of the series, and then a massive all-out in the Powerplay. Taking five wickets while performing the round.
In 12 matches played in March, Shakib scored 353 runs and took 15 wickets.
