President Dr. Arif Alvi says that I am sure that elections will be held in Punjab on April 30.
Dr. Arif Alvi, while giving a special interview to host and senior journalist Munizeh Jahangir in Aaj News program ‘Spotlight’, said that women’s rights are discussed only on March 8, why their rights are not discussed throughout the year?
Munizeh Jahangir asked President Arif Alvi that when the 8th of March is coming and women are going to hold their processions, they are not getting NOC, neither in Islamabad nor in Lahore. Tell me that women should be free, allowed to stand up for their rights on International Women’s Day?
To which the President of the State replied that I request the women to come and discuss whether it will be held on March 8, why is it not held throughout the year?
The President said that there are many theories in Pakistan, there are many laws, but there are very few people who implement these laws. This is the case with women, because it is a conservative country, so I will base my discussion on Islamic history. I also agree that the Qur’an, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam gave property rights to women which were not available in that era. Bibi Khadija was a businesswoman.
He further said that Islam has given full powers to women, including inheritance, ability to do business, opinion. The obstacle is that culturally we have refused to grant these rights.
President Malik said that there is a law in Pakistan, it has been strengthened, the obstacle is that a woman does all these things and a man harasses her, now the task is to look into their own homes.
He said that digitalization is a good time to include women in the economy, she can work sitting at home without going out.
President Arif Alvi said that there is only one section which thinks that this is being done to include western culture. Everyone else considers it in favor of women’s rights.
He further said that the clash of two ideas on the streets will not bring change.
Munizeh said that all these things happen when they come and protest, are they allowed to come to the streets and speak their mind?
In response, President Alvi said that ‘you think, I think that without protesting I have acquired all the knowledge regarding women.’
The question of overpopulation in the country But the President of the State said that there are ninety lakh pregnancies in Pakistan in a year, of which fifty percent are unwanted because they did not get contraceptives, they can go and get contraceptive products from the market. But shame on us, the market and customers are there but we have not been able to provide them facilities.
He said that the clerics have never stopped in this regard, they are with us, only the state policies have not reached the people.
Election Commission on April 30 elections to contact the President and explain the difficulties But Arif Alvi said that ‘there was no such discussion (discussion) with me’, I had also given examples of this in my first letter. Elections were held in America despite the civil war.
He said that the Election Commission ‘absolutely has’ the money for the elections.
On the question whether elections will be held in Punjab on 30 April?
The President of the State said that ‘I am absolutely sure’.
In the meantime, on the question of the obstacle, he said, “I did not see the obstacle even when Bhutto’s government was removed in 1977. The dictator who has come said that I will hold elections in ninety days, if you want the election.” If we play along, then it will take eleven years. Elections have nothing to do with the economy. If the economy is weak, then elections are necessary. The authority to deal with the IMF should be given to the government that has the mandate.
Munizeh asked that I think a consultation was being held with you that the current government wanted to establish an understanding with Tehreek-e-Insaaf, that the provincial elections that are to be held should be moved forward a little, and the general elections that are going to be held a little later. Be pushed back, meaning all elections should be held in September?
To which the President of Pakistan said that ‘I have not had any such consultation, I have been saying for a year that elections should be held, two or four months in advance, sit down and talk, there is no one willing to talk. no.’
Munizeh asked again When you say that someone is not tolerant of talking, are you looking at both sides? From PML-N and Tehreek-e-Insaf?
So President Alvi said that ‘I have been saying for the last two months that the government is not willing to talk at this time, because Tehreek-e-Insaaf has shown a flexibility, in which I must have had a hand, a flexibility. It was demonstrated that talk, I have been saying the tolerant thing I have been saying about the government for three or four months.
Question: Government representatives repeatedly come on TV and say that we are ready to talk without conditions, if it is stipulated that we set this date for elections, then we are not ready to talk?
In response, the President said that ‘there can be many excuses for not talking, how shameful, it will be written in the history of the country that he made this condition so we did not talk, it is a shame, I Who said that Khan and Nawaz Sharif should talk, I was saying talk on some level.’
Munize said that some of it was initiated by you? To which the President of Pakistan said that I was just saying that there was no turn till writing.
In response to a question, he said that no one is sitting down to talk, what is unfortunate, the nation expects you to fix things, negotiate, go to the Supreme Court for everything. There are nations, they resolve their conflicts, they do not prolong it, there is not so much conflict, the country is losing due to polarization in leadership, when it was needed, it was not even discussed, it is in making conspiracies among themselves. I don’t want to go into details.
Munizeh: You have made a very interesting point that you go to the Supreme Court again and again, when this matter goes to the Supreme Court, your lawyer Salman Akram Raja said that now the President has admitted that he has committed corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The date given may have been wrong, it was not correct, the date given in Punjab was correct.
The president replied that ‘my concern was not that I should go into this detail, my concern was that if the elections are not held according to the constitution, the constitution will be missed, otherwise I can give you examples of many countries. That the elections have not been held after the postponement and postponement, this was my fear, even if I have to come to the streets and fight for the election and democracy, I am still ready, my constitution depends on democracy, you govt. Put the baton in the hands of the government and see what the government’s focus is.’
He added that ‘I am sorry, he will go here, catch him, there is a law, if it does not fit him, then pull him, this conversation belongs to no one, no one has the right to record my audio. Do it, why do it brother, whether the government does it or the agency does it, I should not listen to it, the TV should not play, I will appeal to the public not to watch these audio and video leaks at all.’
In response to the question of polarization, he said that there was no good relationship. Look, the country continues to fall apart and talks with Maruts continue. Like eaten, you are taking IMF loan because there is no corruption in the country and everything is fine, no there has been corruption in our country, this country is shaking now, this plow has been because of this. Everyone says that there is corruption, but there is a chance that someone will be punished. Can you remember the name of someone who got punished? An admiral sir got it, he also got it in America, not in Pakistan. Big men don’t get punished in Pakistan, unless they fix the house. No one will disagree with me.
In response to the question ‘How do you propose to proceed with the current establishment?’
The President said that I think the best way is to hold elections, only a good democracy can handle this issue.
Munizeh questioned that ‘when you say that roadblocks are being put in the way of democracy and you emphasized that the election should be held on time, do you think that only the government wants to postpone the election or the establishment also wants it? Is?’
President Arif Alvi said that I think the continuity of democracy in Pakistan lasted only fifteen years, from 2008 to now, there are allegations that we promoted someone, then there are allegations that someone They were removed by conspiracy, all this happened in 15 years of democracy and where we deserved 75 years of democracy, when the transition to democracy happened, we celebrated that transition happened in 2013, the second peaceful transition happened in 2018. It is very important that Arif Alvi’s responsibility is to maintain this continuity.
He said that since I was afraid for two or three months, I openly told Imran Khan that I am not worried about the provincial elections but about the October elections. When the politicians debated on TV, I There was a big problem.
The question arose ‘Now you are worried that the general elections will be held in October.’ So I got the answer that no, my worries became less that the Supreme Court has given a very clear instruction.
Munize said that Mian Sahib may be against you, but what he was punished for is the law of sixty-two and three-sixty-three.the President said that I agree with sixty-two and three-sixty.
Menezes: He (Imran Khan) has written to you as Supreme Commander of Armed Forces.
President: That sounds like a great label, it brings such a smile.
Munizeh Jahangir said that Tehreek-e-Insaf resigned recently, they resigned in 2014 as well, now they are going to the courts to withdraw our resignations, I read your interview that if you had consulted me, I would have said Do not resign.
On which President Alvi said that this is what I would have said and if I had consulted, I would have said more clearly, these are political decisions.
On this question “Moving forward, the President of Pakistan will do something so that this government, Tehreek-e-Insaaf and the establishment come on the same page for the interest of the country?”
The President of Pakistan said that ‘should be’.
Munizeh then asked if any efforts are being made by you.
To which he replied that no, I am openly giving a message that come to one page, everyone should sit, it should be in the interest of the country.
Munize asked that ‘You said that there is no conversation, there is no talk in the back channels, there is complete silence?
So President Alavi said ‘from the government’.
Munize asked ‘From the establishment?’
In response, the president said that ‘I am not talking to the establishment, since the establishment has said that we are not in politics, I have not talked to the establishment.’
