Chicago: After decades of use, the traditional basketball has now been printed with a 3D printer that is not inflated and can be viewed from side to side.
It is made from a special type of polymer and meshed while the mesh-like basketball is not filled with air. Thus, over time, the breakdown continues, after which the air continues to be released.
It is manufactured by Wilson Sports Company. According to the company, traditional basketballs require repeated inflation. On the other hand, basketball intrudes and ditches its form and utility. This basketball is named ‘Wilson Airless Prototype’.
According to the company, although it was made with a 3D printer, a special polymer must have been developed for it. Its material is made resistant to any kind of penetration despite repeated use.
The design and grip of the airless basketball is similar to that of a traditional basketball. Taking it in hand, the player feels exactly like a normal basketball. However, it looks like a science fiction invention. It has hexagonal holes that you can see through.
In addition to 3D printing technology, Wilson Company has developed it with laser sintering technology. This ball is in no way inferior to a traditional basketball in bounce and use.
