Today, Thursday, the United States imposed sanctions on Chinese and Emirati companies and a network of Iranian companies that help export Iranian petrochemicals, in a move likely aimed at intensifying pressure on Tehran. Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson said in a statement, “The United States is pursuing the path of conscious diplomacy in order to reciprocate compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action,” referring to the 2015 nuclear agreement. To an agreement, we will continue to use the sanctions weapon to limit exports of oil, petroleum, and petrochemical products from Iran… The United States will continue to expose the networks that Iran uses to conceal sanctions evasion activities.”
The parties concerned were close to reviving the agreement. nuclear power in March, but the talks stalled for several reasons, including whether Washington would remove Iran's Revolutionary Guards from the list of foreign terrorist organizations.
